Party Table Arrangements

Like flowers, the colors of the American flag are symbolic. The red in the flag symbolizes courage, while red flowers symbolize bravery and passion. White signifies purity and innocence on both the flag and in floral arrangements; while blue stands for vigilance, perseverance and justice on the flag, and exude peace and calm in bloom.

You may be looking for a way to honor a veteran, or wanting to jazz up a picnic table. You probably know that the Declaration of Independence was signed in July of 1776. But did you know that there were no celebrations that year? The first official 4th of July celebration took place a year later, on July 4th, 1777. The holiday wasn’t called Independence Day until 1791, and the first official July 4th White House celebration didn’t take place until 1801, when Thomas Jefferson hosted a holiday party.

Most familiar on the Fourth of July are the noisy and colorful fireworks that begin filling the air as soon as the sky darkens. But that’s not all there is to July 4th celebrations—the daylight hours are also often filled with outdoor activities and festivities, family get togethers and plenty of food and fun. Florists have a brisk time creating patriotic centerpieces, picnic-ready bouquets and filling gift baskets full of goodies that are perfect for Independence Day celebrations. Each year since, the day has been celebrated in a variety of ways, from 13 gun solutes, to parades, to historical readings combine with fireworks. Centerpieces, flower arrangements, celebratory bouquets and gift baskets are all familiar territory for the expert florists.
