why we still use greenery in arrangement bouquets in 2024

Over the years, using greenery or baby breath has been a hit or miss with our customers (mostly a hit). There are a few (and growing number) of people (in general) who think of greenery as filler, or even go as far to say it is a useless part of the arrangement. I am here to remind you that greenery is actually very important to each and every bouquet we handcraft and design. Over the years, actual filler like baby breath filled the homes of everyone who picked flowers, purchased flowers, and even who grew their own gardens. Over time, greenery became the most common choice of “filler” because people realized that the greens accented the blooms perfectly well. Think of it as a bookend. If you’re not a bookworm, you don’t fully understand why people waste money on bookends, but if you’re a bookworm, you understand the importance of organization and having that support that comes with each bookend. When you design a vase of flowers, having that bookend of sorts is what ties the whole piece together and keeps the blooms intact and organized. The greenery helps keep the blooms from drooping and keeps the flowers healthier. In some cultures, there’s even more reason for them, symbolic reasons. Example: Chinese culture use bamboo in their arrangements. Bamboo symbolizes a fresh start, good luck. longevity and prosperity. I personally love bamboo, leaves, greens, and I have a whole green man tree tattoo covering most of my left arm. I also have fall leaves on my other arm. I used to collect greenery and leaves, and my toddlers also enjoy it and being outdoors. I truly believe that the color green plays a huge part in why a simple vase of flowers truly comes to life and the greenery really does complete the piece wonderfully. Don’t forget to appreciate the greenery with every vase arrangement you get from here on out!
